Alynn Harder was awarded $1,000 scholarship for her placement at state. Way to go Tigercats!

The high altitude balloon was recovered a few miles north east of St. John, near the community of Sunset at latitude 47.11326 longitude -117.52217. Flight time was 1 hour 28 minutes.
“We found that the balloon speed changed a lot during the rapid altitude change it increased and decreased. The average speed was 28 mph. But the farther it went up in altitude the faster it moved. The top speed it moved according to the computer was 116 mph but we are doubtful of that”—Computer Science students

This school year our district will begin the process of a 3-5 Year Strategic Plan for School Improvement. The purpose of this plan is to create a new School Improvement Plan that will be implemented over the next 3-5 years. This process has four phases:
Phase One-Pre-Planning: November-December 2016
During this time the school board and administration will design a process to collect input from-community, staff and students
Phase Two-Input and Strategy Formulation: January-February 2017
During this stage we will seek feedback from community, staff and students and synthesize input.
Phase Three-Action Planning– March-May 2017
During this time the team will finalize key actions and present to board for adoption.
Phase Four: 2017-2020-Plan in place to review and renew.
One of the biggest parts of this process is community input. It is key that we get input from as many community members as possible. Our plan is to hold a Community Forum on Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at 6:30 at the school. During this Forum we will give community members an opportunity to provide us with feedback to help develop this plan. This will be an important opportunity for all community members to participate in developing the next long range plan for our school district.
Our plan is to send out personal invitations to all community members right after we come back from Winter Break. We will also advertise on Facebook, bulletins and webpage. We encourage everyone to help us with this process.

The LaCrosse FFA Livestock team placed 12th in state out of 38 teams at the Junior Livestock Show of Spokane. They worked hard all day and improved since the last contest dramatically. The contest started at 10 a.m. and went all day until 5:30 p.m. To start out the contest the students had to participate in a three part team activity followed by a test. Afterwards the contestants walked around in groups and judged 6 classes of market and breeding animals. They then had time to study before they were lined up to give collegiate livestock judges three sets of reasons on why they placed their classes. We are very proud of our livestock team and how they did this year!
