Beginning with the first year of improvement schools must offer public school choice — an important provision of the federal Elementary and Secondary School Act (ESEA) that offers families an alternative to keeping their student in a low-performing school. PSC is a program unique to schools that operate a Title I, Part A program.
School Turnaround Takes Time
PSC is available to parents and guardians as long as the school remains in improvement. Once the school makes it adequate yearly progress goals — 2 years in a row — public school choice becomes unnecessary and comes to an end.
