Dear TigerCat Families,
Welcome to what promises to be another fantastic school year for the students of the LaCrosse School District!
This year we will continue our commitment to the school’s mission of working in partnership with families, youth, and community to prepare all students to become responsible citizens, reach their potential, and compete successfully in a changing and diverse world. Put simply, it is our goal to continue the LaCrosse School’s tradition of providing quality education, unlocking potential, and inspiring excellence in everyone everyday.
Over the summer our school has received some major upgrades. These have included new windows and blinds and carpet for the secondary building, and locks and keys for the whole campus. Additionally, as we move into the fall we will see our entire communications network upgraded.
The biggest change that the network upgrade will allow is that our school will be on the leading edge in instructional technology. All students and teachers will be on a 1 to 1 platform. This means that every student will have a Chromebook computer that they will be using throughout the school day. The use of the Chromebooks will allow students to do much of their research and schoolwork in a paperless way allowing assignments and projects to be completed and turned in electronically. As a part of these instructional technology upgrades, we will be moving our e-mail and our data storage to a cloud based Google platform. One of the great benefits of this change will be the fact that our students and teachers will be able to access their work from anywhere that they can get on the web.
In an effort to provide the best in family – school relations we have established a LaCrosse Schools Facebook page and new website where we can all communicate with each other in a more immediate way. Please “Friend” us on Facebook.
We have one staff change this year. Mr. Michael Potesky will be joining the staff to replace Mrs. Klaveano who has decided to take some time off to raise her children. We are excited to have Mr. Potesky on our staff, to teach our secondary English Language Arts classes, including the college-credited classes English 101 and English 170.
We look forward to seeing you and your students. A great opportunity for that experience will be on the 29th of August from 5:45 to 8 p.m. when we will be holding the annual back to school BBQ. School starts on August 31st at 8:00 a.m. Please contact us if you have any questions about the coming year.
